A male
hippo keeps only eyes, ears, and nostrils above water as he guards his stream
territory and watches intruders intently. Hippos are perhaps the most dangerous
animal to humans in Africa, apart from mosquitoes. They can charge at 30 miles
per hour and chop a human in half.
