An Emperor
Penguin adult looks down at adult Adélies on the pack ice at the Dumont
'd'Urville Station. These are not Emperor chicks, even though they are the
size of them! Emperors are the largest living penguins, although not as large
as some ancestral species preserved as fossils. The smallest living penguins
are Fairy or LIttle Blue Penguins, which we have seen on the rocky coast of
Kangaroo Island, Australia.
