The
canvas of South Georgia Island is painted with a Serengeti Plain of penguins
which cascade from the glaciated highlands to the shore. Here king penguins
cover the slopes at the time of year (November) when the juveniles are losing
their brown feathers and are molting to the beautiful adult plumage.
