A nocturnal
sportive lemur, or Lepilemur, about 12 inches long, awakens from its
daytime sleep in a nest hole twenty feet off the ground (left). Another sportive
lemur (above) watches us with huge night-vision eyes from a tree in Ankarana
Reserve in far northern Madagascar.
