Found
on a branch over a river in the moist montane forest of Andasibe-Mantadia
National Park of Eastern Madagascar, this spectacular spider measured over
an inch in body length, and has rarely been seen or studied. It has been identified
from photographs by an entomologist at the California Academy of Sciences
as Megaloremmius leo, with no common name (although "leo"
suggests "lion" spider, aptly descriptive).
